Many of us are pursuing our dreams in the margins of life. We have work commitments, family commitments, volunteer commitments, the list goes on. So if we’re going to get after our dreams, we need a way to spur ourselves to action. In this video I share about how coming up with a “power statement” has helped me to do this more than anything else. I hope you find it as helpful as I do.
Did you like this video? If so be sure to subscribe to my blog for more great content. Also, if you think it would help others, I’d love you to tweet about it or otherwise share it with your social network.
Question: OK, here’s your chance. What’s your one sentence? What’s your power statement, if you will, the salvo that’s going to help you take charge and pursue your dream? You can leave a comment by clicking here.
Thank you for the challenge! Was just praying about finding some kind of focus point to keep me grounded in my work and then saw this in my Twitter feed. Awesome confirmation.
I’m called to write songs that unveil every single person’s value in Jesus.
Love this! Concise and powerful!!
A little long perhaps…
“My passion is to equip Christians with Biblical insights, enable them to put that knowledge into practice, and encourage them to live out their faith in the marketplace so that they will be the powerful, inspired leaders God intends them to be!”
Ron, not bad! I’m not sure i could recite that to myself in a drowsy state, but if it works for you, go for it!
My action statement relates to my call and gifting (and experience)– I’m called to equip pastors and leaders who lack resources for training (for those overseas).
A corollary for the US is– Mentoring and living day by day in God’s grace and truth.
Awesome!
I need help crafting my statement and narrowing my focus… tips?
Darryll, I hear ya, it can be tough. I offer some one-on-one coaching that I think would definitely help you with this. If you’re interested to know more, email me here: chad [at] chadrallen [dot] com. I hope to hear from you!
I feel relentlessly compelled to help pastors understand the critical importance of their hair style being part what makes their preaching more effective.
Ha! Couldn’t agree with you more, Mr. Kimball.
…go Chad go…! you keep up this innovative excellent creative inspiring life-changing transformational dream it & do it work and you could get published… Wait! You are published : “Do Your Art”…!! keep up the great work my friend connecting “inspiration with innovation” sprinkled with some motivation… that is you.
Ha ha! Thanks. Love the encouragement!
Another great exercise in paring down a big idea into one brief sentence. Here’s my stab at it:
I hope to deliver a fresh retelling of familiar Bible stories in order to stir up affection for Christ.
And I hope you’ll keep pursuing that statement until you can say it’s done. A worthy pursuit, for sure!
Thanks, Chad! I share evidence that living a workaround life can be more than cobbled-together existence.
Diane, fascinating! I’m intrigued, what do you mean by a “workaround life”?
The concept originated with software engineers to describe a temporary fix in a computer system when the original method didn’t work. I believe most of us are living workaround lives. Things haven’t turned out the way we thought they would so we’re just “making it work”. I want to help others discover that even a bumpy, crooked path can lead us back to Jesus and an abundant, not merely cobbled-together, life. My personal journey is the evidence I offer.
What a terrific project! Godspeed.
Great post, Chad. A similar version of this is already posted on my website: “My desire is to share the hope of the Gospel with young people.”
Powerful.
Wonderful stuff. I’m still working on mine (have been for the last, oh, 30 seconds LOL), but I believe it goes something like this: “I am inspired to empower children through story.” Will tweet and FB this :). Thanks!
Hey, that’s a great start, I’d say, Joanne! Well done. I hope you find the exercise useful.
Excellent post. My brief power statement is, “I want to change the world with words.”
Love it, Jackie, and I believe you can do exactly that! Love how short and potent this statement is. May it serve you well.
