One of the great things about having worked in publishing for fifteen years is that I have a lot of friends in the industry. I’d like to use my access to some of these folks for your benefit by providing some interviews with them.
It occurred to me that I could interview successful authors, veteran editors, or savvy agents. As I fretted about which group to pursue, I thought, why not ask you?!
So, which group would you be most interested in hearing from? Authors, editors, or agents? Do you have a preference? Want to hear from all of them? I’d love your feedback in the comments or via email: chad@chadrallen.com
Thanks!
Well, I was going to chime in and yell out editors, but it looks as if you guys have already decided that, nice!
Thanks, Amy! I’ll see what I can do!
Thanks, everybody. Sounds like agents and editors are where it’s at! I really appreciate the feedback.
I’m always interested in hearing from editors, especially now since things are changing so rapidly in both magazine editing and book publishing.
Agents, particularly hybrid agents whose clients are both traditionally published with printed books, and self-published with e-books.
I love to read information from all three!
I’d also vote for Editors. Love to hear what they’re looking for, what makes them love a project, what turns them off to an author, what a dream-author looks like from their perspective.
Hard to go wrong with any of your choices, actually. Looking forward to the series.
That sounds great! I vote for Editors. They seem to be the most mysterious. 🙂 Since the entry into publishing houses is almost always through an agent now, it feels like the actual publisher is the “man behind the curtain.” I’d love to learn just about anything from the perspective of people at the houses themselves!
I vote in this order: Agents, Editors, Authors.
Agents are the ones I don’t know as much about.
Agents OR editors. If someone wants to seriously review my work, God knows who to drop in front of me.
All of the above, but I am currently very curious about agents. It sounds like it is as hard to land an agent as it is to land a publishing contract, and I wonder what helps and what doesn’t. I also wonder about the pros and cons of having one.
Thanks for asking, Chad!
